COVID-19 report in Quebec January 24, 2023

Twenty other Quebecers with COVID-19 have recently lost their lives, according to the government’s new report.

Among these 20 new deaths, two occurred in the last 24 hours and thirteen two to seven days ago. Five deaths date back more than seven days.

Since the start of the pandemic, 17,885 people have succumbed to the disease.

Again this week, hospitalizations continued to decline. On Tuesday, authorities reported a decrease of 47, for a total of 1,711. Of these, 545 patients were being treated specifically for the disease.

In intensive care, 37 people were hospitalized, a drop of five from the previous day. Twenty-two people were on this unit due to illness.

In terms of cases, Quebec has recorded 536 new infections, to which must be added at least 35 positive cases detected by rapid and self-reported tests. However, this data is only partial, since access to screening centers is limited to certain groups.

As for vaccination, 2,120 Quebecers received a dose of vaccine against COVID-19 as of Monday.
