The day after the announcement of “small relaxations” in Quebec, the province reports Wednesday 73 additional deaths as well as a new slight drop in hospitalizations, for a total of 3,270 people hospitalized.

These 73 new deaths bring the average to 67 over a seven-day period. The trend has thus been upwards of 2% for a week, which seems to show that Quebec is slowly tending towards the peak of mortality associated with COVID-19.
The authorities recorded on Wednesday a drop of eight hospitalizations compared to the previous day, which translates into 297 new admissions and 305 discharges. To date, 3,270 patients remain hospitalized in connection with the virus, of which 252 are still in intensive care. This is a decrease of 11 patients on this plan in the last 24 hours (31 entries, 42 exits).
On the vaccination side, just over 80,130 doses were administered on Tuesday, to which are added 5,930 vaccinated given before January 25 who had not yet been counted.
Including people vaccinated outside the province, so far approximately 17.6 million doses have been given to Quebecers.
There are also 4,150 new cases of COVID-19 reported, bringing the seven-day daily average to 4,735, a trend that has been on a downward trend for the past few days. However, it should be remembered that these figures are not representative of the epidemiological situation due to the limits imposed on screening, which is now reserved for certain groups of the population.
To “better assess the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the community”, the Legault government also put a digital platform online on Tuesday allowing Quebecers to “self-declare” their infection with COVID-19 after the use of rapid tests.
On Monday, Public Health carried out 38,734 screening tests, a relatively stable figure compared to the weekly average.
