COVID-19: Quebec reports 23 new deaths

Twenty-three new deaths attributable to COVID-19 were reported in Quebec on Friday, while the number of hospitalizations attributable to the disease decreased.

There are now 1,834 hospitalizations, a decrease of 68 compared to the previous day. Of those patients, 119 are in intensive care, down from five.

The death toll now stands at 13,835.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,837 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 908,466 people infected since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 87,267 rapid tests, including 67,872 positive, have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government. For Thursday, 533 rapid tests were declared, including 410 positive.

The Ministry of Health reported that 21,326 tests had been carried out on Thursday and that Quebec had a positivity rate of 9.4%.

The ministry also specifies that 91% of the Quebec population aged 5 and over received at least one dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, while 86% received at least two doses and 50% received a third dose.
