COVID-19: Quebec reports 13 new deaths and an increase in hospitalizations

Quebec reports Friday 13 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, as well as an increase in hospitalizations.

There are currently 1,887 hospitalizations, an increase of 27 compared to Thursday. Forty-two people are in intensive care, including 22 due to COVID-19, a drop of three.

A total of 7,138 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll now stands at 15,739.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,902 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,121,203 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 251,947 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 209,601 positives. For Thursday, 737 tests were reported, including 656 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 13,988 analyzes were carried out on Thursday and that the positivity rate is 15.1%.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a second dose and 16% obtained a third dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 47% went for a fourth dose.
