COVID-19: Quebec government suspends public activities of ministers

The government of Quebec has suspended the public activities of ministers due to the rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and the increase in hospitalizations, according to the office of Prime Minister François Legault in Duty. Press conferences and announcements are therefore canceled, as well as their attendance at events.

The Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge, tested positive last Thursday. The Minister for Transport, Chantal Rouleau, and the Minister of Finance, Eric Girard, have meanwhile been in contact with the mayoress of Montreal, Valérie Plante, who received a positive result on Saturday.

According to the latest report on Sunday, 3,846 new cases have been identified in the province, a new high. The average of new cases over the past seven days stands at 2,820, an increase of more than 73% from last Sunday. The number of patients increased from 347 to 376.
