COVID-19 outbreak slows in most provinces of the country

The regular update from the Public Health Agency of Canada confirms that the COVID-19 epidemic is slowing in most provinces of the country, including Quebec.

Agency administrators, however, continue to preach caution and insist repeatedly that it is necessary to be vaccinated.

The slowdown in the decline in cases across the country is cause for concern, they say. They therefore expect “some fluctuations in the trajectory over the next few months”.

During a press briefing in Ottawa on Friday morning, Theresa Tam and her colleague Howard Njoo produced figures that once again confirm the effectiveness of the vaccine.

For example, among Canadians aged 12 to 59, unvaccinated people are “51 times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19 than fully vaccinated people.” In those 60 and over, the risk of hospitalization is multiplied by 19 for those who are not vaccinated.

And then, according to data from recent months, it is children under 12 who have been the most affected by the fourth wave, this group not yet having access to a vaccine.
