COVID-19 outbreak | Islanders can resume their activities

(New York) The New York Islanders have been given the green light to resume their NHL activities, after their last games were postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The NHL had postponed Sunday’s games against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden and Tuesday’s games against the Philadelphia Flyers, after eight players were diagnosed positive for the coronavirus. Islanders captain Anders Lee, as well as their leading scorer, Josh Bailey, were notably on the list of players affected by the virus.

The Islanders face the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

The league has indicated that it is currently analyzing its options to reshape the Islanders’ regular schedule, and its decisions will be announced thereafter.

The Islanders are the second team to take a halt this season due to COVID-19. An outbreak in the Ottawa Senators resulted in the postponement of three games last week.
