Two months ago, the saturation of resuscitation services in Polynesia forced the health services to carry out an unprecedented transfer by plane of patients from the VSovid-19 until Paris. Meeting with one of them, who will soon be released from the hospital.

Antonio Apoiri is a miraculous of VSovid-19 who comes from afar. He still needs some oxygen and has lost 20 pounds, but he is alive and well. In intensive care in an overloaded department at the end of September, this Polynesian retiree said goodbye to his daughter before a spectacular transfer to an Airbus, revisited for the occasion in the flying intensive care unit. From Papeete (French Polynesia) in Paris, he was finally able to arrive in an intensive care unit in the capital.

Today, his companion wears a crown of flowers, because it is a day of celebration: Always at the Pitié-Salpêtrière, Antonio will go into rehabilitation service, the last step before being able to return to his native island. Just before leaving the service, his doctor asks the one who was infected before being vaccinated, to play a video message for all vaccine-resistant in Polynesia:There are still people who do not believe it, it is up to you to say that it exists, that it is serious, that it has consequences. And so much the better: the story is beautiful“. Of the eight patients transferred from Tahiti, seven survived the covid.
