MLB and the Players Association have finalized the details of their agreements for their COVID-19 protocol for the 2022 season, five days after signing a new collective agreement.
On-the-ground policy issues have yet to be resolved. Notably, the rule regarding “ghost runners” at second base in extra innings.
“MLB reserves the right to relocate teams to neutral grounds or postpone games if necessary,” reads the 18-page memorandum.
The protocol is less strict than in the last two seasons.
