After the Delta variant, the world could face a new variation of the coronavirus which has arrived in South Africa.
As the fifth wave hit Europe, countries are trying to eradicate the epidemic which is resuming head-on. New measures have been established with in particular the booster dose which has been generalized for adults. However, a new epidemic could emerge. A variant has been detected in South Africa, and it is believed to be highly contagious.
Damien Mascret, journalist at France Télévisions, takes stock of this new threat. “The variant has been classified as special concern by the World Health Organization for several reasons. First of all, because he has mutations which are a little worrying “, he explains. The journalist indicates that he could return us “sicker than the current variant”. He also specifies that for the moment, more elements are needed to know if it is really to be feared.
