COVID-19 in Quebec: nearly 100 fewer hospitalizations

Quebec reported 93 fewer hospitalizations than the day before, Thursday, for a total of 1,902 people who thus occupy a hospital bed due to COVID-19.

In addition, 124 Quebecers are in intensive care, a decrease of five compared to Wednesday’s results. The province has also recorded 22 additional deaths, bringing the total to 13,812 people who have lost their lives to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

In addition, 2,055 cases of COVID-19 have been reported among people with access to screening centers, while 86,105 rapid tests have been self-reported since the government platform was set up on January 25. Of those tests, 66,913 came back positive, including 441 during the day on Wednesday.

The number of hospitalizations continues to decline in Ontario as well (1342, -61), as does the number of people in intensive care (356, -8).

Canada’s most populous province added 36 deaths to its toll, 10 less than the previous day. Also, 2,327 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported among people who have access to PCR tests.

In the Atlantic provinces, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador reported 321 cases and one death, as well as 316 cases and one death, respectively.

Manitoba has reported 416 new infections and five deaths, while Nunavut has added 35 cases to its toll.
