COVID-19 in Quebec: hospitalizations continue to rise

Quebec added 30 deaths to its death toll from COVID-19 on Friday as hospitalizations continued to rise in the province.

The number of hospitalizations has increased by 55 people in the past 24 hours, totaling 1,637 occupied beds. The decline continues, however, in intensive care, with two Quebecers who were able to leave the service compared to the day before (62).

La Belle Province also reported 3,572 new cases from tests carried out in screening centers and 1,199 self-reported positive rapid tests.

Elsewhere in the country

On the other side of the Ottawa River, nine patients entered Ontario hospitals, for a total of 1,135. An increase was also seen in intensive care (+7, 166).

Ontario also reported 10 additional deaths and 4,295 infections detected with a PCR test.
