  • Three-quarters of COVID-19 cases in Quebec are linked to the arrival of new variants, says Dr.r Luc Boileau.
  • The rise should continue for a few more days or weeks, says Dr. Boileau. He assures that it is “possible to enjoy your summer, being aware that the virus is circulating.”
  • People who frequent “crowded” places are invited to wear a mask to protect themselves against COVID-19 in Quebec.

This update was done in the company of the microbiologist, clinical expert in support of the scientific management of the MSSS pandemic, Dr.r Jean Longtin at 11:30 a.m.

The last press conference of the Dr Boileau regarding the pandemic took place on May 11.

The national director of public health then announced that public health was reducing the frequency of its press briefings, which until then had been weekly, due to the improvement in the epidemiological situation in the province.

The last health measure that was still in place was lifted on June 18 with the end of the wearing of compulsory masks in transport.

Quebec recorded, on Tuesday, an increase of 113 hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 and five deaths.

Europe is currently plunged back into a seventh wave of COVID-19 with a rebound in cases in several countries.

This increase would be due in particular to the relaxation of sanitary measures and a drop in immunity against viruses.
