COVID-19 in Quebec: 19 fewer hospitalizations, but 19 more deaths

The Quebec government reported Thursday 19 new deaths, as well as a decrease of 19 hospitalizations related to COVID-19.

Of these 19 deaths, only two have occurred in the past 24 hours.

The death toll from the disease now stands at 16,637 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 1,572 hospitalizations, including 520 due to COVID-19, down 19 from the previous day.

In intensive care were 36 patients, 19 of them due to COVID-19, a decrease of four from the previous day.

The ministry reported 844 new cases, although the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to testing centers is restricted to priority groups.

There were 3,657 healthcare workers absent for reasons related to COVID-19, up 62 from the previous toll.

A total of 187 rapid tests were self-reported for Wednesday, including 155 positives. The total stands at 287,543 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 240,953 positives.

In terms of vaccination, 23,842 doses administered are added, for a total of 20,969,174 doses administered in Quebec.
