In France, nearly 124,000 new daily cases of Covid-19 have been recorded on average over the last seven days, Monday July 11. Pharmacies once again find themselves on the front line, and the French are rushing to self-tests.

Faced with the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic, it is the rush for self-tests. Since one month, a pharmacy in Lille (North) saw a 20% increase in sales. The rise contamination motivates these purchases, but the French are also showing themselves to be more and more organized and far-sighted. “There was a period when, when we went to the pharmacy to get some, there were none, so I take two or three in advance”testifies a Lille woman.

During the week of June 26 to July 2, 800,000 purchases of self-tests were made in pharmacies. This is much more than the previous month, but twice less than during the peak of contamination at the end of January. Self-tests are convenientprovided you use them well, recalls infectious disease specialist Dr. Benjamin Davido. “The limit of self-tests is that we know that they can be lacking, especially when we have no or few symptoms. Another recommendation: if the self-test is negative, repeat it the following days in the event of symptoms or if you are contact case.
