Faced with an epidemic that is not declining, antigen tests are still popular in pharmacies. They have also become a very profitable business.

Despite the introduction of the vaccination pass, antigenic tests are still carried out in pharmacies. Indeed, the contaminations linked to the omicron variant make antigenic tests still just as important in the fight against Covid-19. The pharmacies that carry out these tests are at the head of a very profitable business which is growing every day.

For each test carried out, Social Security pays 25 euros to the pharmacy, 6 euros for the equipment and 19 euros for the pharmacist for carrying out the test. In a Parisian pharmacy, the number of tests has doubled in a month, the equivalent of 250 per day. A generous remuneration that represents 15% of their turnover. This establishment even sometimes calls on service providers to meet constantly changing demand. In 2021, according to the federation of pharmacists, 75 million antigenic tests were carried out in France.
