The party relayed the information by means of a press release Tuesday afternoon. She is the only member of the political party who is currently infected with the virus.

The member for Saint-Jean was placed in isolation at home while awaiting the result of a PCR test to confirm the diagnosis. It joins a series of elected officials who have recently announced that they have been infected.

The day before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, indicated that she had received a positive result for COVID-19 after having carried out a rapid screening test. She was also placed in isolation pending confirmation of a PCR test.

The Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, the Minister of Education of Quebec, Jean-François Roberge, and the Mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson, have all announced in the past few days that they have been infected with the coronavirus.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, the Omicron variant is now the dominant one in Quebec. It is responsible for 80% of new cases.
