Quebec recorded a new record on Thursday, with 9,397 new infections in the past 24 hours.

The day before, the province recorded 6,361 cases of COVID-19. This new increase is not a surprise since the Prime Minister, François Legault, had mentioned a record number of more than 9,000 cases during his press briefing on Wednesday evening.
Six more deaths were also added to the toll on Thursday. Since the start of the pandemic, 511,095 Quebecers have been infected and 11,658 people have died of the disease.
Hospitalizations are also on the rise (473, +28) while 91 people are in intensive care (+3).
For its part, Ontario reported 5,790 cases and seven deaths, in its report on Thursday. Hospitalizations also increased (440, +20) and the number of people in intensive care remained stable (169, +1).
