Courtenay’s family

Around the year 1000, Hutton took advantage of the war of succession in Burgundy between Robert II the Pious and Otte-Guillaume de Bourgogne to seize land in Gâtinais (Loiret), on which he built the Château de Courtenay. .

His son Josselin de Courtenay has three sons, including Miles de Courtenay and Josselin Ier de Courtenay-Edesse. A family that we then find throughout the Yonne as in Druyes les Belles Fontaines or Auxerre, but also in Palestine and England.
