Iran has significantly increased its stock of enriched uranium in recent months, continuing its nuclear escalation even if it denies wanting to acquire the bomb, according to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) consulted on Wednesday. May 31 by AFP. Stocks stood at 4,744.5 kg as of May 13 (compared to 3,760.8 kg in October), more than 23 times the limit authorized by the 2015 international agreement.
The IAEA has also decided to close the file relating to the presence of nuclear material on the undeclared site of Marivan, south of Tehran, after receiving “plausible explanations” from Iran.
The UN body “has no additional questions and this question is considered resolved at this stage”according to a confidential report consulted by AFP, a few days before a meeting of the Board of Governors of the IAEA.
