(Montreal) The body of a man was found charred following a fire in his Côte-Saint-Luc apartment late Monday afternoon. According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the thesis of arson is ruled out.

Many units in the building on Kingsley Road had to be evacuated when the fire broke out at around 5:40 p.m. in a third-floor apartment.
Some people were bothered by the smoke. The Montreal Fire Department said it was a second alarm fire and asked the public to avoid the area.
Inside, the body of the man, whose age was not immediately confirmed, was found inert.
“Nothing indicates that it would be a criminal act. Everything indicates that it could be an accidental gesture, even voluntary. Everything remains to be determined,” said agent Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the SPVM.
Since a man was killed in this fire, the SPVM will continue its investigation.
