Cost of new third link | The opposition does not believe Legault’s version

(Quebec) Liberal MP Madwa-Nika Cadet claims that Premier François Legault is “willfully blind” on the question of the costs of the new version of the third link between Quebec and Lévis.

“Either he didn’t watch them and it suited his business, or he saw them and he doesn’t want to divulge them. But in any case, we seem to want to show the figures that suit us and hide those that do not suit us, ”she said.

Wednesday, during the study of the appropriations, Mr. Legault said that he had not seen the estimated costs of the tunnel project devoted to public transport. A cost estimate exists, but it is redacted in the version that has been made public.

Mme Cadet doesn’t believe the prime minister didn’t look at the numbers.

The member calls the government contradictory on the subject.

Liberal MP Frédéric Beauchemin describes this approach as “messy” and fears that there will be cost overruns.

The supportive MP for Taschereau, Étienne Grandmont, is also skeptical of the Prime Minister’s assertion.

“I cannot understand why such an important project, which could be one of the largest infrastructure projects in Quebec, that this question has not been addressed. It shows the lack of seriousness. There is a kind of lightness and improvisation,” he said.

PQ MP Joël Arseneau has two hypotheses on the matter. “Either he is showing an absolutely aberrant lack of rigor, or he is making fun of us. I let you choose,” he said.
