Pampering at home

This trio from the Quebec company Les Pétards was a real boost of well-being during the dark winter evenings. The set succeeded in providing us with a spa experience at home, ideal for invigorating our morale with three products with a scent that is both vegetal and mineral, soft and soothing: the Amour Propre cleansing bar, with verbena and Canadian clay; the Sweet-Salty exfoliant, with sugar and Epsom salt; and Fleur de peau moisturizer, made with hyaluronic acid, maple syrup and Labrador tea. Each of them was able to awaken our senses while leaving the skin smooth and silky, coated with a fragrance that remained on the body for a long time. We like that the products are handmade, in the Eastern Townships, with local, natural and biodegradable ingredients.

Price: $65 for the trio, available online or at points of sale

PHOTO PROVIDED BY MANSCAPED

The Performance 4.0 Package by Manscaped

We’ve been sifting through two new sets from California brand Manscaped. The Ultra Premium collection includes body care — soap, shampoo, moisturizer and lip balm — for effective cleansing. We love the signature fragrance that allows you to stay on the same olfactory wavelength from one product to another. The Performance 4.0 set is more interested, with a touch of humour, in what happens below the belt: deodorant and toner “for the family jewels”. We are aimed at athletes as well as “video game addicts wanting to lengthen their session without the wet crotch”! Cleaning products actually help keep a feeling of freshness. As for the electric razor “The Lawn Mower”, it is precise, safe and well thought out. Only general downside: the French translations could be pushed further (product names, descriptions, website).

Price: $60 to $160, available online

The minimalist facial treatment trio offered by new company East 29th

The founder of the Vancouver East 29th company, Victoria Ferguson, has made it her mission to create products that combine facial care and well-being, to connect the physical to the mental, for a renewed vision of what is called the beauty “. Behind these main principles, a minimalist range of three facial treatments – cleanser, serum, mist – which uses only natural and vegan ingredients, without parabens or perfume, and which will appeal to all genders and ages. We like the light textures, which penetrate quickly while leaving a feeling of freshness on the skin. One of the key ingredients in the range is lemon zest extract; rich in antioxidants, it helps to make the complexion more even and the skin more elastic. Extracts of sea buckthorn, sage or ginger bark, hyaluronic acid or plant ceramides — fatty acids that help protect the skin barrier and keep the skin hydrated — are on the short list of ingredients.

Price: $41 (cleanser), $56 (mist), $88 (serum) or $158 for the trio, available online

PHOTO PROVIDED BY LISE WATIER

New express make-up remover wipes by Lise Watier

Of course, nothing beats reusable wipes. It is obvious. Nevertheless, to help out with a short evening in a hurry, these Lise Watier make-up remover wipes really won us over, in several respects. First, because they are biodegradable and vegan (excellent here to relieve our conscience), then because they are really effective (cleansing the skin and removing make-up in depth, even the most recalcitrant mascara), invigorating and enriched with Labrador tea extract, with antioxidant power. Beware of very sensitive skin, however, wipes can be slightly irritating if used repeatedly. To slip into the handbag, to deal with all the unexpected!

Price: $29 for a package of 56 wipes, on sale in pharmacies
