“The noise and the silence” of the American Cory Anderson leaves no one indifferent I can tell you and that was not the case either. Having adored this book I felt intrigued… And the cover being very successful by the way, this is a drawing of an old red American car parked in a snowy forest at night. There is a man leaning against the car, he seems to be smoking a cigarette and observing footprints in the snow, I didn’t need more to start reading.
We find ourselves immersed in winter in a small town of Idaho in the United States. Jack Dahl, the hero is 17 years old and has no future, no more money, no more parents, a drama occurring from the first pages. On the other hand, he has a little brother Matty and will have to quickly find solutions to keep him with him and that the social services do not come looking for them. An idea will therefore germinate in him, find the money for the robbery that sent his father to prison.
The one who tells us the story is Ava, who is the same age as Jack. Her father taught her not to love anyone and never to trust. His father Bardem is a real villain and guess what he’s looking for? Yes you understood the same booty. Ava will have to make choices with serious consequences.
These young people will therefore be in danger throughout the story. We will follow them on these decisive few days when they will play cat and mouse with mobsters and the police, all in the heart of a hostile, wild, omnipresent nature.
The tension is felt on every page and at no time do we want to stop reading.
