The tension in Corsica is only growing. In question, a video circulating on Iinternet in which we can see and hear CRS singing the Marseillaise, the day of Yvan’s funeral Colonna.

The clashes lasted part of the evening of Sunday March 27, Furiani (Upper Corsica). Some hooded demonstrators threw stones, smoke bombs and molotov cocktails towards the CRS barracks. The cause of their anger are videos circulating on Iinternet for a few days. On the images, we see CRS singing the Marseillaise on the day of Yvan’s funeral Colonna. The unions said it was a festive barbecue, but for the protesters it was a provocation. “We cannot sing the Marseillaise while someone is buried, with us in the tradition, it is not done”says a man.

Jean-Felix Acquavivadeputy of Upper Corsicadeplores the violence, but understand anger. “You can’t prevent reactions of excitement, reactions of indignation, it was a foregone conclusion. I believe that what counts is that today, everyone, each in their corner, goes in the same direction, (…) it is to build peace and a political solution”. 13 police officers and a gendarme were injured during the clashes last night.
