Copa America | Colombia and Brazil draw

(Santa Clara) Brazil could do no better than a draw against Colombia (1-1) on Tuesday in Santa Clara (California), to finish second in their group and face Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the Copa America.

A superb direct free kick from Raphinha (12e) had given the Seleçao the lead before Colombia responded in added time of the first half through Daniel Munoz (45+2).

Colombia, unbeaten in 26 games, thus finishes at the top of Group D with seven points and will face Panama on Saturday in Glendale (Arizona).

Brazil, already held to a draw by Costa Rica in their first match, finished second with five points and will face Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay on Saturday in Las Vegas, who have won three of their three group matches.

Costa Rica beat Paraguay (2-1) in the other match of the day, but find themselves third with four points and eliminated from the competition.
