Hundreds of people from across Quebec gathered at Square Saint-Louis in Montreal on Friday to put pressure on world leaders gathered for COP15 on biodiversity.
Hundreds of demonstrators, including students from several Quebec cities, gathered near the Sherbrooke metro on Friday around 3 p.m.
They denounce the inertia of the leaders concerning the protection of the living in a capitalist system which prioritizes profit.
“While our collective house is burning, our economic elites are wondering how to turn it into business opportunities! “Launched to the gathered crowd Xan Choquet, member of the anti-capitalist and ecologist collective against COP15, which is organizing the event.
“Capital is destroying the earth, war on capital! they chant as they begin to walk north on Saint-Denis Street around 3:30 p.m.
Earlier, the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal warned on Twitter that hindrances could be experienced due to the march.
An imposing police presence frames the march.
