On Monday November, 1st, heads of state meet in Glasgow (UK) for the COP 26. For two weeks, climate issues will be at the center of the debates.

If the COP 26 officially begins Sunday, October 31, the heads of state will not be present until the next day to begin discussions on the issue of climate issues. Alok Sharma, the president of COP 26 called on everyone to act now to “protect our precious planet”.

The main objective of this COP 26 is to to go past the 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming. An objective already displayed during the COP 21 in Paris in 2015. According to climatologists, this figure is the only one that would limit the most dramatic consequences linked to global warming. According to climatologist Jean Jouzel, 1.5 ° of heating allows “conserve coral reefs, reduce extreme weather events and limit sea level rise”. For several days now, activists have been demonstrating, particularly in Edinburgh in the UK to put pressure on the 200 world leaders who are expected in the Scottish city. The first speeches by heads of state are expected on November 1, with in particular the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, expected in the afternoon.
