A last strong message before his death
Cooper Noriega had fallen into addiction even before the age of 10. He had told host Dave Portnoy on the podcast BBFs, take Xanax, Aderall, marijuana and also nicotine. In 2020, Cooper had attempted suicide following a fentanyl overdose.
A few days before his death, on Sunday June 5, Cooper Noriega had announced to his followers on Instagram, the creation of a Discord, a social instant messaging platform to express himself on his mental health. The young man said: “I’ve been battling addiction since I was 9 years old., you may think this is crazy, but this is the life that was inflicted on me. I would like to use the influence given to me to create a space built on raising awareness and normalizing discussions about mental illness,” he said before recognizing: “One of the many things I’ve learned from battling addiction is that surrounding yourself with negative people will only bring you down. For this reason, Discord is meant to bring us all together and create a safe space where people can let off steam and help others through their difficult times.”
With his notoriety on social networks, Cooper Noriega will have been able, before his death, to leave a last message to his community.
