(LA) Los Angeles Rams wideout Cooper Kupp will have surgery for a sprained right ankle, which will mean the Super Bowl’s MVP will be out for at least four weeks.
For his part, offensive tackle Alaric Jackson will miss the rest of the campaign after doctors found blood clots in his system, while right-side guard Chandler Brewer will be out for four to six weeks with a knee surgery, Rams head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday.
Kupp, the Associated Press’ MVP of 2021 after capturing the Triple Crown in his position, was injured in Sunday’s 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He will have to go under the knife, which means the Rams will be without their best offensive player for a few weeks, at the very least.
Kupp currently ranks second in the NFL with 75 catches, while his 812 yards and six airborne touchdowns put him in fifth place.
His absence, in addition to injuries to the other two offensive linemen, will hurt the Rams on offense, who are at 31e league rank in yards gained per game (282.7), at 29e for points per game (16.4) and at the bottom for rushing yards (68.1).
The Rams (3-6) will send a 10e different starting combination in as many games on the offensive front, Sunday, against the New Orleans Saints.
