The identities of the more than 92,000 people who donated to the truckers’ convoy movement protesting mandatory vaccinations and health measures in Canada have been leaked. A compilation made by The duty shows that the majority of donors come from outside the country.
More than $8 million had been raised on the Christian crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo and the Distributed Denial of Secrets (DDoS) group published the details on its website Sunday evening. The file brings together the names of the 92,844 donors, their email address, country, postal code, amount of the donation (or more in some cases), as well as the date the donation was issued.
According to a data analysis by The duty, a majority of donations came from the United States, for a total of 51,600. By comparison, just over 36,000 donations came from Canada. Note that it is impossible to verify the accuracy of the information contained in the hacked file.
More generous donations, however, came from Canadian donors, who totaled $4,311,287. A sum of $3,626,224 came from the United States. The most generous donation from the United States matched the sum of $90,000. The donation was made on February 9. Canada’s most generous donor donated $75,000 on Feb. 9.
According to the database, the largest donation would have been $215,000. However, the donor’s name and personal information are not displayed.
Sign that the movement has made international headlines: donations from several other countries are on the list. Among them are over 1830 donations from the UK and over 580 from Australia.
The average donation from Canada was $119 and from the United States was $70.
The average donation was $91 across all countries. The majority of amounts sent vary between $10 and $200. A majority of donors chose to send $100 to the movement.
The GiveSendGo platform has not been accessible since Monday. “We are currently offline for maintenance and server upgrades,” it read in English early Monday evening on the site’s main page.
