Marine Le Pen will attend the Pantheonization ceremony of Missak Manouchian on Wednesday February 21. A response to the interview given to the newspaper L’Humanité, this Monday, February 19, by Emmanuel Macron, where he estimated that “the far-right forces would be inspired not to be present” at the ceremony.
It is a political offensive by Emmanuel Macron, in the run-up to the European elections. On the morning of Monday February 19, in the columns of L’Humanité, the President of the Republic discusses the entry into the Pantheon of the former communist resistance fighter Missak Manouchian, and adds: “Far-right forces would be advised not to be present, given the nature of Manouchian’s fight.”
A strategy of the president facing the RN which seems changing
An argument to which the National Rally (RN) immediately responded. “The President of the Republic does not have to sort out who, according to him, are the good or bad elected representatives of the French Republic”, estimated Jordan Bardella, president of the RN. Marine Le Pen will therefore go to the ceremony planned for the evening of Wednesday February 21 at the Pantheon. More generally, the president’s entire strategy to counter the far right seems to be changing. Contacted, the Élysée denies any contradiction at the top of the State, but for some within the macronie, the president’s words regarding the RN are above all strategic, with the European elections in their sights.
