Lawrence Wauquiez invited 90 guests to having dinner during summer. This invitation is controversial since the cost of the meal would have been 100,000 euros, finance with taxpayers’ money.

Justice was seized about a having dinner given by Lawrence Wauquiez. The President of the Rhône-Alpes region invited 90 guests on June 23, 2022 to the Château de la Chaize (Rhone). Many prestigious guests took part in this having dinner like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Alexis Pinturault. In total, the evening would have cost more than 100,000 euros, or the equivalent of 1,100 euros per person. It is the Mediapart investigative media that reveals this information.

The exorbitant cost of the dinner poses a problem since it is the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region which has fully covered the costs related to the evening.This networking dinner was held with public funds for a significant sum in a period of budgetary restrictions (…) and was held without the presence of any other elected official in the region who, moreover, had no knowledge of the existence of this dinnerreveals journalist Valentine Oberti.
