The Mediterranean Infection University Hospital Institute (IHU), directed by Professor Didier Raoult, is hosting a symposium on March 30 and 31 bringing together many figures of the antivax movement. Among them, Doctor Laurent Toubiana, participant in the conspiratorial documentary Heistthe American doctor opposed to the Robert Malone vaccine, or doctor Pierre Kory, defender of ivermectin, a drug whose effectiveness against Covid-19 has not been demonstrated.
Faced with the controversy that swells, Didier Raoult explains in a press release welcome this event for the sake of freedom of expression, without censoring it, without condoning it. He does not indicate whether he will speak there.
The debates will be broadcast, the work will give rise to public summaries. Claude Escargot, spokesperson for the collectives of attending physicians, believes that this conference is worrying because it could demonstrate that the choices recommended by the Ministry of Health were not the right ones. “Thousands of doctors around the world, from the onset of the first symptoms, treated the sick with an antibiotic, contrary to the doxa which says that viral infections should not be treated with antibiotics. 20 times fewer deaths than when patients were left on Doliprane. If it turns out that all these doctors in the field were right, people can be worried.”
The founding members of the IHU, namely the Armed Forces Health Service, Aix-Marseille University, the Research Institute for Development, the French Blood Establishment, the Public Assistance of Marseille Hospitals and the ‘Inserm, explain “that they have not been concerted and are in no way associated” at this meeting. They ask for his relocation, in vain for the moment.
Didier Raoult remains at the head of the IHU until September. He will then retire.
