(Quebec) The candidate of the Conservative Party of Quebec in Joliette, Pascal Laurin, has already compared outgoing Prime Minister François Legault to Russian President Vladimir Poutine and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. He also called the countries of the Middle East “country of shit”, recalling the words of former US President Donald Trump.

In several publications on his Facebook page, some of which date back to 2020, the special education teacher protests against the health measures imposed during the pandemic and the management of the government by decree when the state of health emergency was in effect.
“What is the first technique of social control that Putin set in motion in Russia when the war started? The control and manipulation of information available to one’s own people,” he wrote on May 6 in response to an article by Radio-Canada on barriers to access to information within the State and in response to Internet users who suggested that he go and live in Russia instead of complaining about the management of the pandemic.
” Results ? Russians have less and less access to information that would be “unfavorable” to the Putin government. What does [sic] Legault and his clique in our beautiful Quebeckistan for several months? The same thing ! »
In another publication on Bill 28 which ended the state of health emergency, he compares François Legault to dictator Kim Jong-un whom he considers “moderate” to demonstrate. The government retained certain powers until December 31 due to the pandemic, including that of extending over-the-counter contracts.
“Coldly, just at the decision-making level, what is the difference between North Korea and Quebec in times of health emergency? […] The answer is simple. Not much [sic]. »
He accuses the Coalition avenir Québec of having circumvented the parliamentary system and believes that this way of doing things is no different from that of “a moderate dictator”.
In a criticism against the wearing of the Islamic veil published on August 19, 2021, he writes that people in the Middle East “leave their country of shit by the thousand” to immigrate to Quebec thinking of living as if they were still there. This declaration recalls that of the former American president who, in 2018, had used the same qualifier in English for the African countries, Haiti and El Salvador.
When he announced his candidacy on July 8, Pascal Laurin admitted that he had “not been shy” to give his opinion “on everything related to the management of the crisis” and said that he supported his opinions “with strong arguments.
“Does that mean I was right?” Not at all, he wrote. All that really means is that I was ready to debate and take a critical look at those who have turned the lives of 8.5 million Quebecers upside down. »
The leader of the PCQ, Éric Duhaime, has already defended conspiratorial remarks made by some of these candidates, recalling that he supported freedom of expression. At the time of publication, he had yet to react to his candidate’s controversial posts in Joliette.
