The threat of a strike by SNCF controllers looms over the weekend of February 16 to 18, during the winter holidays. Unions say an agreement signed in 2022 to end another strike would not have been respected.
Most TGVs are full for the winter holidays, but the threat of a controller strike looms over the weekend of February 16 to 18. A perspective that divides travelers, on the afternoon of Thursday February 8 at the Gare de Lyon (Paris). At issue: an agreement signed in 2022 to end a strike in the middle of Christmas, with 200,000 travelers remaining at the dock. More than a year later, this agreement has not been respected according to the unions.
No lifting of notice for the moment
The unions are demanding better remuneration for controllers, recruitment and even consideration of the arduousness of their profession. To appease their anger, the boss of the SNCF made new proposals on Thursday morning: 1,000 additional recruitments, including 200 controllers, and a bonus of 400 euros in March for all railway workers. But for some unions, the count is still not there, particularly regarding the number of controllers on board TGVs. There is therefore no question for the unions of lifting the strike notice for the moment.
