A new case of E.coli bacteria poisoning was detected on Saturday February 10. Cheeses purchased from the E.Leclerc brand are believed to be the cause of the contamination.

Little Clara, 18 months old, came close to death. Hospitalized at the end of December after being contaminated by E.coli bacteria, she was placed in an artificial coma. His parents, upset, are worried about the future of the little girl. “For the moment, she is recovering slowly, but we are unable to tell us what the neurological consequences will be.“, relates Jade Abrial, Clara’s mother. The little one would have suffered brain damage. “She struggles to walk, we don’t know if she will have full mobility.” adds Damien Playe, his father.

140 severe contaminations per year

Another 7-year-old little girl was contaminated in December 2023 by the bacteria. From now on, she needs dialysis every day. “She born can no longer play sports, she can’t go swimming anymore, we’re connected at night”, explains Yohan Buisson, Elise’s father. The little girl is now at risk of a kidney transplant.

Elise and Clara both consumes morbier, raw milk cheese, purchased in a Leclerc which had ordered a product recall. The two families filed a complaint against X. Each year, 140 severe contaminations with the E.coli bacteria occur in young children. It is mainly found in cheeses and poorly cooked meats.
