Purchasing power is a priority theme for the 2022 presidential election. In this period of inflation, food prices are rising. Journalist Chloé Tixier takes stock of the situation live from the 19/20 set.
The prices of certain food products are rising sharply in this period of inflation. “In the last three months alone, food prices have increased according to the latest INSEE data: +4.9% for pasta, +1.5% for vegetables, for fresh fish it is +3.9%. The price of cod, for example, is at 9.32 euros per kilo today. That’s 18% more than last summer.”says journalist Chloé Tixier on the set of 19/20.
How can these price increases be explained? “First for pasta, it is above all the surge in the price of wheat that explains this increase. Harvests were very poor last year due to heavy rains. The price of packaging is also soaring. Of course, all of this has an impact on the price of our package of pasta”continues the journalist.
