Bulk is exploding in supermarket stores and now you will not only find products from small producers, but also from big brands. A good way to control your budget, while avoiding waste.

Peanuts, through pasta or confectionery, bulk invites itself into everyday products. In a large area, an entire aisle is dedicated to it. Consumers are attracted by the ecological and economic aspect. A brand has been testing bulk for four months. A hundred references are available. For the most part, these are national brand products. The main argument remains the price. “You see the quill rigateif you buy it in a package, it is 2.18 euros per kilo. Here, it is at 1.80 euro. The customer who looks a little for the price, he will see it right away”explains Bertrand Swiderskydirector of sustainable development for the Carrefour group.

And this price difference applies to many products. Bulk semolina is 2.20 euros per kilo, compared to 2.98 euros packed. A few euros of difference, which relaunch a mode of consumption. “Indeed, we are going to make bulk sales of small quantities of aperitif biscuits for example and regularly small quantities, because consumers will pay attention to their purchasing power, but will still have fun”exposes Bertrand Swidersky. The bulk market today weighs more than a billion euros, ten times more than ten years ago.
