New government: Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella received Monday by Emmanuel Macron
Emmanuel Macron will receive Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally and Marine Le Pen, president of the RN group in the National Assembly, on Monday August 26 at 10 a.m. at the Élysée. “It’s a bit of PR, like Emmanuel Macron does, but we respect the institutions. When Jordan Bardella is summoned to the Rencontres de Saint-Denis, he goes there. After that, what do we expect from it? Honestly, not much,” says Philippe Ballard, MP for Oise and spokesperson for the far-right party.
Consultations at the Élysée for “a series of exchanges” with the leaders of parties and parliamentary groups, 47 days after the second round of legislative elections, will begin on Friday, August 23.
Pension reform: “There could be a referendum”
The RN intends to put a hot topic on the table: the repeal of the pension reform. “There could be a referendum on pension reform”, “It will probably be on the agenda” of the parliamentary niche of the National Rally, scheduled for October 31, affirms the deputy of Oise and spokesperson of the extreme right party.
“We have an extremely precise and extremely clear retirement plan”recalls Philippe Ballard. “For those who started working between the ages of 17 and 20, it’s retirement at 60 with 40 years of contributions,” specifies the deputy. For the others, “We are reducing the legal age to 62, but to get the full rate, we will count in annuities”he continues. For example, if “You start working at 24, it is obvious that you can leave at 62, the legal age, but to have a full pension, you must have 42 years of contributions.”
If the left comes to propose the repeal of the pension reform, Philippe Ballard assures that the parliamentarians of the National Rally will vote for it because “It is in the interest of the French.”
