(Paris) A man was arrested on Friday after an alert given by the Iranian consulate in Paris according to which an individual had been seen inside “carrying a grenade or an explosive vest”, announced the prefecture of Paris police.
“The man left the consulate and was being checked by the BRI (an elite unit of the French police, Editor’s note). A survey of the premises was underway,” the same source added.
The Iranian consulate district, located avenue d’Iéna, in the 16the district (West) of the capital, is completely cordoned off and a strong police force is in place, according to an AFP journalist on site.
Traffic on metro lines 9 and 6 serving Trocadéro station, closest to the Iranian consulate, is interrupted, RATP said on X.
