In its motion, filed before the Human Rights Tribunal, the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse criticized the Commission de la construction for contributing “to the situation of systemic discrimination against women in the construction industry” with “various failures and omissions”.
In particular, the Commission is asking the Human Rights Tribunal to order the Construction Commission to revise its equal access program for women.
She is also asking him to pay compensation of $5,000 and $8,000 to two construction workers, as moral damages. They had complained of their difficulties in getting hired, despite their skills and training.
The case has not yet been heard by the court. The CCQ has therefore not yet been able to give its version of the facts.
