Construction Holidays | Customs Rush Causes Long Waits

The start of the construction holidays caused a lot of traffic at customs on Saturday morning. As on Friday, long waiting times were to be expected.

A wait time of 45 minutes was expected at the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border crossing around 7 a.m., more than double the usual wait, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. By 9 a.m., that estimate had dropped by half.

Congestion was also felt in Saint-Armand, where holidaymakers had to wait an average of 45 minutes before crossing the border, early in the morning. Around 9 a.m., it was still necessary to allow at least 30 minutes to get through customs.

In Stanstead, motorists could expect to wait about thirty minutes at the border crossing, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. However, the estimated wait time was reduced to about fifteen minutes, around 9 a.m.
