Around 250 demonstrators occupied the front of the main entrance to the Quebec courthouse in support of former lawyer Gloriane Blais, who filed on Monday a request for authorization to appeal her eight-year disbarment, pronounced by the Quebec Bar.

Gloriane Blais was disbarred in November 2022 for having notably insinuated that a magistrate had fabricated evidence in one of her cases. The ex-lawyer became closer to conspiracy movements during the pandemic, notably adopting anti-vaccine positions and gradually becoming a leading figure in conspiracy circles.

“The writing of his dissertation is a dishonor for the profession,” deplored the Disciplinary Council of the Quebec Bar in its decision on the removal of Mr.me Blais. The trustee considered that it was “rare to encounter a case which brings the authority of the courts into such disrepute”.

A year and a half later, the former lawyer was present at the Quebec courthouse to plead before the Court of Appeal a request for authorization to appeal this cancellation case.
Around 250 supporters accompanied him, many coming from other regions in buses organized for the occasion. With signs and flags in hand, the group made itself heard in front of the courthouse. Many well-known conspiracy influencers such as Samuel Grenier, François Amalega and Jonathan Blanchette were also on site.

The demonstrators listened to a broadcast of the short hearing made by the organizers of the demonstration outside. No overflow was observed.
The case was taken under advisement by the judge and a decision will be rendered later.
