Raihorodok is the last village before Lyman (Ukraine), a strategic city liberated by the Ukrainians. Some streets were completely destroyed by the Russians. Houses were gutted, with impacts on the walls and shattered windows. A resident’s café was also shelled by the army. “It was really great and comfortable here before the strikes. People came and had a good time”says Igor.

Shells are even planted on the ground in the streets. A resident says she protected herself during the strikes with an old upturned car, boards on her windows and a shelter in the basement. On the edge of the liberated city, significant military resources are still deployed to hold the Ukrainian positions. “Lyman is a crucial place, at the crossroads of many roads and an essential railway station”explains a Ukrainian.
