Members of the leadership contest organizing committee met on Wednesday and decided to hold another one following a survey the party had sent out to members.
A party spokesman said 24,000 members responded “overwhelmingly” in favor of a third debate.
The event will take place in August and more details on the schedule should be released later today.
According to party rules, it is mandatory for leadership contestants to attend official debates or face a fine.
Former Quebec premier Jean Charest has urged the party to hold a third debate, and candidates Scott Aitchison and Roman Baber have also called for one.
Leslyn Lewis’ campaign said she would participate if there was one. A spokesman for Pierre Poilievre, the frontrunner in the race, has yet to announce his intentions for a third debate.
