Will there be gasoline for the All Saints holidays which are fast approaching? The question worries the French and tourism professionals, Thursday, October 13.

Because of fuel shortages, French people met by journalists from France Télévisions in Juan-les-Pins (Alpes-Maritimes) are reluctant to plan long trips for the All Saints holidays. “Given the region, I don’t see the point of leaving, so we’re going to stay here and make tourists here”, explains a man. Another resident describes what her holidays will be like: “We’re going to do what we did today, go have a little coffee on the beach, go not very far, get around by bike, on a scooter.”

Concern is much more present among tourism professionals. Alain Palamiti, owner of the Pirates beach, is one of them. “It’s a clientele from Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg, so people take the car or fly. So we’re going to hope that there will be people, but maybe people will be afraid to venture out”, he worries. A hotel in Saint-Laurent-du-Var (Alpes-Maritimes) recorded 25% cancellations due to fuel shortages.
