Connor McDavid would miss a second straight game

(Edmonton) Star forward Connor McDavid said he will “probably” miss Friday’s game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Arizona Coyotes.

McDavid said he didn’t want to miss any games, but his health was his priority heading into the playoffs.

The Oilers captain was not in uniform Wednesday when his team lost 5-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights.

McDavid’s condition continues to be reassessed on a daily basis. Head coach Kris Knoblauch said McDavid will make the decision to return when he is ready.

McDavid dominates the Oilers with 130 points. Before Friday’s games, the Oilers were four points behind the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the Pacific Division. The Oilers also have two more games to play between now and the end of the season than their rivals.

The Oilers will host the Canucks on Saturday.
