Connor Bedard on injured reserve

The Chicago Blackhawks placed Connor Bedard on injured reserve Saturday afternoon, specifying that he is suffering from a broken jaw.

Friday, during the first period of the game against the New Jersey Devils, the young prodigy was hit hard by Brendan Smith entering the zone. The first pick in the last draft immediately retreated to the locker room and did not return to the game afterward. See the incident in question in the video above.

An altercation immediately broke out on the ice rink. Smith then had to answer for his actions by fighting Nick Foligno.

The latter, however, was injured during the sequence. He fractured a finger, so his name was also placed on the injured list.

As misfortune never happens alone, in addition to losing the services of Bedard, the Hawks lost by a score of 4-2.

They return to action on Sunday with a visit to the Calgary Flames at the United Center.
