Congress passes $95 billion aid plan for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

Ukrainian flags waved in the American hemicycle of Congress to welcome the adoption of the aid plan on Saturday April 20. A total sum of 95 billion dollars was approved, of which 61 billion will be dedicated to the war in Ukraine. A financial boost requested for months by Joe Biden which could be decisive for the Ukrainian army, in great difficulty on the front. The vote was welcomed by the European Union, NATO and German diplomacy. The Ukrainian president also thanked Congress.

Exacerbating global crises?

The plan adopted by the House of Representatives also includes $13 billion in military assistance to Israel in its fight against Hamas and $9 billion for humanitarian aid to Gaza. Finally, $8 billion will be devoted to supporting Taiwan militarily and economically, to compete with China. According to Moscow, this support for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan will exacerbate global crises and lead to an unprecedented worsening of tensions. Before being applied, these American measures will first have to be examined by the Senate.
